__________

PROCEDURE FOR LOADING AND STARTING
HFR L3 BOARDS IN NEW, COMBINED EEPROM/P2C TEST

Equipment:

This procedure requires one Phillips head screwdriver, either an overhead light on a spring cord or a flashlight, and a rolling rack.

Training:

Operators attempting this procedure must be certified, have ESD training, and know basic SNL and Klemtest procedures.

Procedure:

After you test your personal ESD equipment and locate the machine in the work area, you will need eight L3 boards for the test.

(Some machines may have damaged slots, and run fewer boards, or, test may be run with as little as one set – always try to run machines as full as possible, and fill empty slots with baffles.)

SNL all boards (mother and daughter cards) for proper location.

Use your light to inspect the backplane and power connectors in the machine.

At the control station, right click the mouse on the blue field outside the Klemtest window.

From the menu that appears, right or left click on “User’s Menu”, and park the mouse pointer inside the white window [“USER’S MENU”] that opens. (You cannot type in the window unless the mouse pointer is inside it.)

Type “93” and press “ENTER”

(If you are scanning boards in from a different control station than the one they will test at, options will vary. Look for the option that says “Run board scan on…”, and pick the one for the server you are going to test the boards at.)

Park the mouse pointer inside the new window [“CMD TOOL”].

The script asks: “PLEASE SCAN TOP LEVEL 800/68/341 NUMBER”

Select which of your L3 boards is going to be scanned first.

Find the barcode label on the mother board with the number that starts with “800…” and scan it with the laser pistol.

The script asks:  “PLEASE SCAN CLEI CODE”

Find the CLEI code label (starts with “IPU…”) on the board faceplate and type it in, then press “ENTER”. (Do not scan barcode on label with CLEI code – yet!)

The script asks: “PLEASE SCAN EQUIP. CAT. ITEM (ECI)”

Find the label on the faceplate with the CLEI code (Starts with “IPU…”) and scan the barcode.

The script asks:  “PLEASE SCAN PID VID”

Find the label on the faceplate that says “PID VID” and scan the barcode.

The script asks: “SCAN TOP LEVEL 73 NUMBER”

Find the barcode label on the mother board with the number that starts with “73…” and scan.

The script asks: “SCAN MOTHER BOARD SERIAL NUMBER ON FACEPLATE”

Check if there’s a barcode label on the faceplate with a number starting “SAD…” If there isn’t one, find the “SAD…” barcode label on the mother board, and scan it.

The script asks: “SCAN MOTHER BOARD SERIAL NUMBER ON BOARD”

Find the barcode label on the mother board with the number starting “SAD…”, and scan it.

The script asks: “SCAN DEVIATION 1 (TYPE DONE TO EXIT)”

Look at the entire surface of the mother board for barcode labels with a number starting with “D…” There may be none, or one, or more than one. (They can be scanned in any order, just don’t skip any.)

If there are none, type “DONE”, press “ENTER”, and skip to Section 2, below.

If there is one, scan it.

The script asks: “SCAN DEVIATION 2 (TYPE DONE TO EXIT)”

If there is a second one, scan it, and repeat process until all are scanned.

Type “DONE” and press “ENTER”.
